Operations manual
The Operations Manual contains the detailed written explanation of the Franchisor's systems and the way the franchise is operated. It needs to be extremely comprehensive, as it is the blue print of the franchisor's business success. This effectively, is what the Franchisee is paying for.
Matters to be addressed in the Operations Manual may include the following:
- Company philosophy
- Legal requirements for the operation of the franchise, eg Health and Safety / Liquor Licensing.
- Administration requirements
- Accounting procedures
- Marketing and promotion - suggestions and procedures
- Stock control methods
- Human Resources
- Maintaining standards
- Franchise meetings - when / where / how often
- Pricing suggestions
- Sales procedures
- Non-Competition / Restraint of Trade, what provisions apply, are they enforceable.
